We have been informed that  Zonealarm have included a "ZoneAlarm Spy Blocker toolbar" as well which is an optional during install.
However, this Toolbar now uses the AskJeeves/Ask.com searchengine.
Screenshot after it was installed :

Also, as I said, it is an optional during install, but it was pre-checked and it doesn't provide more info about the ask.com toolbar. It only says that the toolbar gives extra protection. So what would a user do in such case? Install it ofcourse...

First we have Spysweeper adding this Toolbar, now we have Zonealarm - what's next?
Spysweeper displayed at least an EULA where the optional was to check/uncheck the toolbar.
In this case, nothing was displayed.
It's a pity Sad

Zone Alarm make no mention of installing the ASK toolbar and in my view this is very deceptive on their part, pretending to install a spyblocker toolbar when in fact you are installing Ask Toolbar

This has also been taken up by http://sunbeltblog.blogspot.com/2007/12/another-security-company-succumbs-to.html

We used to think we could trust our security programs and firewalls and antispyware programs. No longer it seems and the almighty Dollar has claimed yet another victim

I assume Zone alarm are being paid for every Ask toolbar installed in teh same way  other affiliates of Ask also get paid

However this deceptive install is just the one step over the line for me and many other security folks and Zone alarm will no longer be on my shopping list or recommendations
