A crazy computer

Basically my computer is

a) extremely slow (right now I working in safe mode)
b) some of the applications do not open at all. It takes between 10-15 minutes if they open.
c) scan and/or downloads take between 3 - 7 hours
d) The resource monitor tells me to close application when I only have one open
e) Internet goes from responding to no responding all the time
f) All my USB ports sometimes works sometimes don't
d) My system is Windows XP SP2
f) I have only one antivirus program (CA Internet Suite) which includes firewall, anti spyware, etc
g) I have also scanned the computer (registry booster) and there was no improvement

nothing obvious showing in safe mode but a lot of malware won't show up when logs are taken in safe mode

lets see what this shows

try to run it in normal mode if you can

if NOT then safe mode will be fine

Please visit Combofix Guide & Instructions for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix: ignore the advice about installing the recovery console for now as I doubt it will install with the problems you are having

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Note: ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making it the default browser.
Note: Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CDs, floppies and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you -- please tell us when you reply

Hi Derek,

thanks for your reply. I run the combo fix first in safe mode and after the log the computer freeze. I reboot the computer and try to run the combo fix in normal mode, it crashes like 10 times, in other instances while attempting to scan or creating a new system restore I got the message "batch file cannot be found", and it just simply didn't open. Bottom line I couldn't run the combo fix in any mode but in the safe one.

I think my computer is dying as it's getting worse by the minute. The webpage shows blank and cannot open any webpage. I'm writting you from the safe mode. The only good thing I manage to do is to run the Hijackthis in normal mode, thus, getting the below log file, hope it helps:

I can't see anything but I have seen several reports of your CA security suite causing this problem

I would make sure you are disconnected from the net
Uninstall CA & see if the problem goes away. If it does you have the answer

if it doesn't then I would suggest that your safest, quickest and most reliable fix is to format & reinstall the operating system from scratch

the computer work a little better after I uninstalled the CA software but still slow. I guess I will have to format & reinstall the operating system from scratch.
