Just 1 question, is there anyway of saving the BIOS settings so you can go back to it once you have put the new battery?

I was thinking of writing it down but there is so muc to write, would it be good to though?

Thanks

Ok I will do that. I have written the settings down just in case.

Also when I switch my PC on, the tower starts up and my monitor stays on standby. I press the keys on the keyboard but the monitor doesn't turn on. The tower is running though - could this be related to the battery?

it is possible but unlikely
see if changing the battery solves it, if not then it looks like a trip to a repair specialist and might be a damaged graphics card or a faulty monitor or an incorrect power setting

does the monitor come on if turned off & turned on again

I will try the battery first and see what happens. I recently got a new motherboard and a graphics card integrated with it in April 09.

I turn the monitor on and then it goes to standby. Green light changes to orange. The monitor is 4yrs old. When you say "incorrect power setting" what does this mean?

Thanks

in the power profile on control panel, make sure turn monitor off isn't set to 1 secion or something silly

when did this problem start

it could be a fault with inbuilt graphics card

have you updated or altered any drivers on motherboard

it might be a better bet to take this one to a repair shop as diagnosing hardware faultds over the net is almost impossible
