When reply to a topic on the malware section, I notice that what comes up on the monitor is almost a sentence behind of what I have typed.  I type pretty fast and there's a lag time.  For instance, when I was typing "type pretty fast" the monitor was only displaying "what comes up" at the time.

Then when I went to PayPal to make a donation to the HH's I entered my info and there was not dealy at all.  Then I hotmail and replied to a letter and, also no lag.

So, I'm guessing that it may have something to do with this website?  Is that weird?
Could this be right?  I certainly notice it--lagging of seeing the characters come up on the screen-- more on some websites than others.  As a matter of fact, I typed the entire paragraph non-stop and nothing came up at all until I stopped typing, then, after a 5-second pause the  paragraph appeared.

This is a really old computer, a 1.6ghz processor but I have a gig of RAM and don't recall ever having a problem with it like this before.  At first I thought it was a malware thing but Derek didn't notice anything unusual in the logs.

is it only on the malware section or was it here as well

sometimes if there are lot of people viewing teh site, you can get a  temporary slowdown as the sql server tries to keep up BUT that is unusual

what browser are you using Firefox or IE
is it the same in both

There definitely seems to be  an intermittent fault with IE & this site ( and other sites on this server) I am getting a slowdown typinmg as well but only with IE8 & not with Firefox or chrome so it can't be the site itselfd othersie all browsers would do it  but IE checking something or whatever

Let's see, I'm typing this on  Firefox and I'm going along at a pretty good clip and...NO LAG!!  Hmmm... so it's IE8?  And I had this same problem with IE6 before the IE8 install.

Our building is only allotted 2megs of bandwidth for the entire 20 offices in here.  When everyone is on the net, things are really slow to download.  YouTube videos become unwatchable, just stops and starts and slooowly progresses to the finish.  But even on weekends with an empty building, things are still slow.  I'll log on with IE8 again and see if it lags.

Now continuing...with IE8 and yes...tonnes of lag just like before.  IN Firefox it just zips along. I need to go back and run ComboFix as per instructions in the Malware topic.  Did you tell me to reply to here or the Malware topic?

it is definitely an IE problem and it improves if you set the site in compatability mode
