Windows Boot Manager Error -Help

Hi I have a Sony laptop and i have vista on it. When i started it this morning i got the following error:

Windows failed to start a recent hardware or software change might be the cause to fix the problem

1.Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer etc


File: \Boot\BCD
Status: 0x00000f
An erro occured while attempting to read the config data

I cannot go any further then that i tired selecting F8...no luck

 They did not give me the windows installation disc so i do not know what to do....they shop i bought it from has since gone into liquidation. Its a sony vaio

Please help..alll my college work is on it

you need a sony disc or it might work if you borrow a vista dvd from a friend
