System Hangs !!

Hi Derek,

My laptop hangs on its own at times and in a blue screen this some error message comes "KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR". And it became unresponsive after that. I forced off it and restarted it. The same thing happened again though after some 1 hour or so but the error message was different "KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR". At the end of this message there was another line "Beginning dump of physical memory".

I dont know what is the issue. I just checked the error message on google found some blogs where people have mentioned that it may happen after new hardware or software have been installed. But in y case no change has taken place since quiet some time.

Delete any existing version of ComboFix you have sitting on your desktop

Please read and follow all these instructions very carefully

Download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop.

**Note:  It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop  and run from the desktop and not any other folder on your computer**

1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

• Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus and  anti-malware real-time protection and any script blocking components of them or your firewall before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results" or stop combofix running at all
• Click on THIS LINK to see instructions on how to temporarily disable many security programs while running combofix. The list does not cover every program. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
  
• Remember to re enable the protection again after combofix has finished

2. Close any open browsers and any other programs you might have running

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

If you are using windows XP It might display a pop up saying that "Recovery console is not installed, do you want to install?"
Please select yes & let it download the files it needs to do this
When finished, it will produce a report for you. 
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review

Hi Derek,


To start Combofix I tried to disable Trend Micro Office Scan but it asked for some password. This AV was installed from my College IT team and now I dont have any password for it. So I ran combofix with Trend Micro On.


While running the Combofix program the system hanged the same way as before. I guess it happens whenever the cooling fan starts because I can feel the vibration in the system and system getting hanged. Probably the problem could be because of system getting heated up. That is why I ran this combofix early in the morning when the temp is very low and could complete the Combofix scan.

best I can suggest based on that report is run chkdsk, see if there are any bad sectors but if it did it when running combofix, it sounds like bad ram

go to start/run & type  cmd  press OK on the black screen that opens type Chkdsk /r press return

You will get a message saying can't lock files etc do yiou want to schedule to run on next reboot.  press Y & retun. then reboot
