Good morning and THANK YOU.  I received a warning from Avira last night so I restarted computer in safe mode and ran full scan. It detected the two files in SUBJECT line and I opted to quarantine them.  I did notice that Avira had not been able to update the last few days but I wasn't receiving notice that there was a problem.

I am copy/pasting the DDS and attaching attach.txt  as instructed. However, when I loaded gmer, it appeared to scan for a 5 seconds or so and then went 'quiet'.  I reattempted two more times and it did same thing. Do you want me to run scan as if I received the warning about rootkit activity (which I did not receive)?

they are java exploits and Avira is right to detect them & quarantine them, but threy can't harm you if you have the latest version of java
You have update 29 which is slightly out of date but should still protect against those 2
update java to the latest update 30 by going to www.java.com & pressing the red get java button

first though clear your Java cache as shown http://www.java.com/en/download/help/5000020300.xml to get rid of any other lurking, unwanted java applets

once that has been done
Download Temp File Cleaner to your desktop
Open the file and close any other windows.
It will close all programs itself when run, make sure to let it run uninterrupted.
Click the Start button to begin the process. The program should not take long to finish its job
Once its finished it should reboot your machine, if not, do this yourself to ensure a complete clean

If you are using Vista or Windows 7 then right click the TFC.exe & select run as Admin to allow it to work.

What a relief, Derek! I followed your instructions and should be good to go. Should I empty the quarantine files in avira? Will gladly now proceed to helping the hedgehogs. Thanks again, Carol

Emptying quarantine is your choice. They are safe in there, but it does no harm to empty them

In many cases each part of the fix takes about 30 minutes to prepare, so a large part of my time is spent helping you
